INSTRUCTIONS FOR AIMBE FELLOWS NOMINATION
FORM
1.Candidates for Fellow may be recommended by Fellows
of the College, or by voting representatives of the Council of Societies,
Industry Council or Academic Council.
Nominators who are Foreign Fellows must have a co-nominator who is a
Fellow (with permanent residence in the United States).
2.The major criterion that must be addressed in the
nomination of a Fellow candidate for the American Institute for Medical and
Biological Engineering s a demonstrable record of outstanding or exceptional
achievement in research, development, education, manufacturing, public service,
technological leadership and/or clinical practice as they relate to medical and
biological engineering.
3.The nominator must in a clear, concise and
comprehensive fashion provide information that supports the nomination of the
candidate.
4. Information in support of the nomination of the
candidate should come from the curriculum vitae and other sources as deemed
appropriate by the nominator. The form must be completed and submitted
electronically, together with a curriculum vitae or resume, to the AIMBE office
at info@aimbe.org with the subject line
Fellows Nomination.
5.The nominator must fill out the nomination form. Under no circumstances is the nomination
form to be sent to the nominee for completion. Nomination forms
completed by the nominee will not be considered.
6.The nominator must identify the one (1) specialty
area that best fits the nominee. Nominees from Industry may be identified as the Industrial Practice and Service specialty area. Following receipt of the nomination form and
curriculum vitae or resume, the chair of the Fellows Selection Committee will
distribute to an appropriate member of the Committee those nominations that are
in a specialty area in which the member is knowledgeable. The member will then
consult with a subcommittee of colleagues selected from the membership of the College of Fellows of AIMBE.
7.The Fellows Selection Committee will collect the
recommendations of the committee members and reach a consensus on those candidates
to be nominated for election to membership in the College of Fellows
of AIMBE.
8.Regarding major criterion for nomination, the
nominator should include identification of individual achievements under items
7, 8, 9, and 11 in the nomination form. Professional and public service
contributions should be included under item 10. The form may refer to the nominee's curriculum vitae or resume. Biographical information provided by the nominator will be used on the ballot and printed materials.
9.The original official nomination form and curriculum
vitae or resume must be emailed to the AIMBE office at info@aimbe.org with
the subject line: Fellows Nomination by the deadline to be considered.
