Stephen L. Grimes has been inducted into the American College of Clinical Engineering’s Hall of Fame

Grimes is a 2019 inductee in the Clinical Engineering Hall of Fame in recognition of his significant contributions to the profession as a visionary leader. He saw places where clinical engineering needed to go as a profession, for example, Clinical Systems Engineering, and Medical Technology Cyber Security, and then used his leadership skills to advocate for those ideas, create the conversation and enable them to become realized.

He is also a past recipient of the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation’s (AAMI) 2016 Healthcare Technology Management Leadership Award, the American College of Clinical Engineering’s (ACCE) 2015 Lifetime Achievement Award, and the joint industry American College of Clinical Engineering & Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society 2010 Excellence in CE-IT Synergies Award and two ACCE professional advocacy/achievement awards (2003 and 2005).

In addition to being a fellow of the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering (Class of 2008), he is a fellow of Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (Class of 2007), the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (Class of 2019), and the American College of Clinical Engineering (Class of 2002) where he is also a past president.

Induction into the Clinical Engineering Hall of Fame is reserved for individuals who have been recognized as having made outstanding and notable contributions to the initiation, evolution and/or advancement of clinical engineering. These contributions have been judged to have the impact, influence, innovation and/or reach that will, as best can be determined, stand the test of time.
