For their distinguished and continuing achievements in original research, UC Santa Barbara professors Denise Montell, Linda Petzold and Glenn Fredrickson have been elected to the National Academy of Sciences (NAS). They are among 120 members, and 30 international members, to join the academy this year.

Membership in the NAS is one of the most prestigious recognitions awarded to a scientist or engineer in the United States.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) has announced the election of Linda R. Petzold, Ph.D., to its College of Fellows. Dr. Petzold was nominated, reviewed, and elected by peers and members of the College of Fellows for her pioneering work in algorithms and software for computational simulation has enabled the mathematical modeling in biological sciences and engineering.

The College of Fellows is comprised of the top two percent of medical and biological engineers in the country.
