Tulane University professor Chenzhong Li, PhD, has been named a 2021 fellow by the National Academy of Inventors (NAI), an honor that is the highest professional distinction accorded solely to academic inventors.

Li, professor of Biomedical Engineering and Biochemistry at Tulane University School of Medicine and the School of Science and Engineering, leads advances in biochemistry and biomedical engineering research at the Center for Cellular and Molecular Diagnostics. WASHINGTON, D.C.—The American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) has announced the induction of Chenzhong Li, Ph.D., Professor, Department of Biomedical Engineering, Florida International University and Program Director, Biosensing Program, Division of CBET, National Science Foundation, to its College of Fellows.

Election to the AIMBE College of Fellows is among the highest professional distinctions accorded to a medical and biological engineer. The College of Fellows is comprised of the top two percent of medical and biological engineers. College membership honors those who have made outstanding contributions to “engineering and medicine research, practice, or education” and to “the pioneering of new and developing fields of technology, making major advancements in traditional fields of medical and biological engineering, or developing/implementing innovative approaches to bioengineering education.”

Dr. Li was nominated, reviewed, and elected by peers and members of the College of Fellows for “outstanding contributions to technology innovation in novel biosensor development, including Point of Care Testings, and cell/organ on a chip.”
