CI MED Researchers to Develop Tools to Track Inflammation in Human Tissue as Chan Zuckerberg Biohub Chicago Investigators

Twelve Carle Illinois College of Medicine (CI MED) researchers have been chosen as part of the inaugural group of investigators probing the role of inflammation and the function of the immune system in disease, including one CI MED-based team examining inflammation’s role in female reproductive disorders.

The Chan Zuckerberg Biohub Chicago was announced in 2023 to leverage the expertise of researchers from a range of disciplines to develop technologies capable of making precise, molecular-level measurements of biological processes within human tissues. Dr. Amy Wagoner Johnson Elected to the 2022 Class of the AIMBE College of Fellows

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) has announced the election of Amy Wagoner Johnson, Ph.D., Professor, Mechanical Science and Engineering, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign to its College of Fellows. Dr. Wagoner Johnson was nominated, reviewed, and elected by peers and members of the AIMBE College of Fellows for work in recruiting and advancing women and persons of color in academe and pioneering research in biomaterials and biomechanics.

The College of Fellows is comprised of the top two percent of medical and biological engineers in the country. The most accomplished and distinguished engineering and medical school chairs, research directors, professors, innovators, and successful entrepreneurs comprise the College of Fellows. AIMBE Fellows are regularly recognized for their contributions in teaching, research, and innovation.
