Johns Hopkins materials scientist Younan Xia was elected to the 2026 Class of the National Academy of Engineering (NAE), one of the engineering profession’s highest honors, recognizing individuals for their outstanding contributions to research, practice, education, or technology pioneering. Xia was elected “for research and leadership in the invention and rational development of advanced materials for nanomedicine and regenerative medicine.”
Xia, who works at the forefront of research that is revolutionizing how we design, synthesize, and use nanomaterials, recently joined Johns Hopkins as the Bloomberg Distinguished Professor of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology.
